    Many people looking at getting solar want to make sure that the panels they install are made by an American company.  We understand this desire, which is why we decided to find out which solar companies are based America.  They are:

  • American Made Solar Panels

    1. SunPower

    SunPower has been headquartered in San Jose, CA since 1985.  In October 2014, the company was described as "Silicon Valleys dominant solar panel manufacturer", and as of December 2013 was employing 6,320 people.

  • 2. Verengo Solar

    Verengo Solar has quickly moved to be one of the top 5 solar companies in the US.  Based out of Torrance, California, they were founded in 2008 and now have a second location in Arizona.  By 2012 it was one of the fastest growing companies in the US, according to Inc. Magazine.

  • 3. Solar City

    Solar City is headquartered in San Mateo, CA and was recently acquired by Tesla.  They employ 15,000+ Americans, and have their own manufacturing division as well. 

  • 4. SunRun

    SunRun is another big-box solar company that is famous for utilizing PPA's.  They are based out of San Francisco, and were founded in 2011.

  • 5. Sungevity

    Sungevity has been in the solar business since 2007, and is based in Oakland, California.  Although they are a small company (under 250 employees) they famously started the "Solar on the White House" campaign in 2010.
