Net Energy Metering (NEM) is a program that credits a solar customer’s electric bill for surplus energy they send back to the grid.

As a solar customer, you can use these credits to offset the cost of energy you draw from the grid, making it one of the biggest ways solar saves you money. 

California Utilities will change that very soon with NEM 3.0. And this change is in their favor, not yours.
