King Chavez Preparatory Academy Solar Installation

Solar Installation King Chavez Prep Academy
Some private and charter schools are starting to realize the benefits of solar, and King Chavez Prep Academy in San Diego is one of the first in the area to do so and install solar to offset their high power bills. King Chavez, located in downtown SD, is a charter school dedicated to urban education, in hopes of lessening the education gap between low and high-income
families. Their goal is to provide resources and opportunities to underserved children that would not get those opportunities otherwise. Their cause is a noble one, which is why we were so excited when they called us to get a solar quote.

We were able to install a 33-panel system coming in at 34.68kW on their flat rooftop. We used what is called a ballast system, which does not penetrate the roof, but instead utilizes the weight of concrete blocks to hold the system down. The system allowed them to reduce and at times eliminate their power bill that was previously very high from A/C bills and other expenses. Now they can use the money they were spending on power to buy other things like supplies and new computers for the children. That’s something everyone can get behind.
